The carbide balls are mainly composed of micron-sized metal carbide powders such as tungsten carbide (WC) and titanium carbide (TiC), along with binders like cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), or molybdenum (Mo). They are produced through processes such as powder preparation, wet grinding, mixing, molding and pressing, and sintering. Their hardness can reach ≥90.5 HRA, with a density of approximately 14.9 g/cm³. They possess high wear resistance, corrosion resistance and bending resistance.

Classification and Grades

carbide balls are classified by application into types such as blank balls, precision ground balls, bearing balls, valve balls, non-magnetic balls, pen ball bearings, etc., totaling over a dozen varieties. Common grades include YG, YN, YT, and YW series, among which YG6 and YG8 are typical representatives. The production accuracy level can reach G3-G3000, and customized non-standard products are also supported.

  1. High hardness and wear resistance: the wear resistance is tens to hundreds of times higher than that of traditional steel balls.
  2. Corrosion resistance and bending resistance: suitable for high-temperature, corrosive environments and mechanical impacts.
  3. Chemical stability: tungsten carbide does not dissolve in water, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, but can dissolve in the mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid.
  4. High-temperature performance: can be used at temperatures above 400°C, with a melting point of approximately 2870°C and a boiling point of approximately 6000°C.
  5. Special features: non-magnetic carbide balls are suitable for magnetic powder molds. The surface roughness of the pen-shaped balls is low, and the micropores are uniform.

Application fields

carbide balls are widely used in:

• Precision bearings, instruments and meters, mechanical manufacturing

• Oilfield equipment, spraying machines, valve motors

• Aerospace and high-end processing industries

• Ball bearings for writing instruments, mold manufacturing, thermal production wells and sand-producing wells.

Its high strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance make it a key material for high-end manufacturing and precision processing industries.
