The 4F Ball Nose End Mill / Milling Cutter is a precision CNC tool with 4 cutting edges (4F) and a hemispherical end. It is mainly used for the precise processing of 3D curved surface molds, profiling milling, and groove cutting.

1. Material: Usually made of high-hardness solid carbide (tungsten steel), and some budget models use high-speed steel with cobalt (HSS-Co).
2. Advantages in number of flutes (4 Flutes): Compared to 2-flute (2F) ball nose cutters, 4-flute tools offer greater rigidity and metal removal rate, allowing for twice the feed rate, and produce a smoother surface finish, making them ideal for finishing. Due to the relatively small chip removal space, it is generally not recommended for rough machining or aluminum processing that is prone to sticking to the tool.
3. Coating selection: Common industrial coatings available on the market include TiSiN (titanium silicon nitride), AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), and TiCN, etc. These coatings enable the tool to remain sharp under high-temperature and high-hardness cutting conditions, extending its service life by several times.

1. Tool tip radius (R angle): The ball head radius is usually half of the cutting edge diameter (for example, a ball head tool with a 4mm cutting edge has a ball head radius of 2mm).
2. Cutting edge diameter and handle diameter (D1 & D2): Confirm the diameter of the cutting part and the diameter of the clamping handle (equal or unequal diameter handle).
3. Effective cutting length and total length (LOC & OAL): Based on the depth of the cutting for the workpiece, choose standard cutting length, long cutting edge or long-necked style to avoid interference. Workpiece hardness compatibility (HRC): Merchants usually indicate the processing hardness suitable for the tool (such as HRC55 or HRC58-60). Avoid using low-hardness tools to cut high-hardness materials.
4. Cooling method: When processing high-hardness materials, it is recommended to combine air cooling, oil mist or water insoluble cutting fluid to achieve the best surface finish and tool life.
