The carbide rotary file (or carbide burr) is a heavy-duty cutting bit used in die grinders and rotary tools for carving, deburring, and smoothing hard materials like steel, aluminum, and dense woods. It features a solid tungsten carbide head designed to run at high speeds (up to 50,000 RPM) without dulling.

For heavy material removal, opt for double-cut (cross-cut) bits, which create smaller chips and are ideal for softer metals, plastics, and wood. For dense or hardened steels, single-cut (fluted) bits are preferred for clean finishes.

Common shapes and their uses include:

product-1008-856

Cylindrical: For flat surface work and right-angle corners.

Ball (Spherical): For hollowing, concave cuts, and contouring.

Tree/Cone: For accessing hard-to-reach areas and rounded edges. Standard bits usually feature a 1/4" or 3mm or 6mm shank for larger die grinders, though 1/8" options are available for standard rotary tools.
