Carbide Impact Blocks
In the mining, construction materials, and sand and gravel production industries, the carbide impact blocks of the crusher are the core wear-resistant components of the vertical shaft impact crusher (sand making machine). Their performance directly affects the production efficiency and operating costs.
The impact block, also known as the throwing head or wear-resistant block, is installed on the rotor of the high-speed rotating rotor of the vertical shaft impact crusher. Its core function is to utilize the centrifugal force of the material to rapidly throw the material that falls onto the rotor outwards, causing a strong impact between the material and the peripheral guard plate or the material itself, thereby achieving efficient crushing and shaping. It can be said that the impact block is the key "executor" that converts the rotational kinetic energy of the motor into the impact energy for material crushing.

The traditional crusher liners mainly bear the sliding friction and compression of the material, while the design and working conditions of the impact block are fundamentally different. Its advantages are reflected in:
High kinetic energy conversion efficiency: Specifically designed for impact collisions, it can accelerate the materials to extremely high speeds, with concentrated energy and high crushing efficiency.
Optimize the particle shape of the finished product: Through precise control of the ejection trajectory, there are more collisions between the materials, resulting in sand and stone aggregates with a rounder shape and better gradation, which can meet the requirements of high-standard construction.
More advanced design: Modern impact blocks often adopt diamond-shaped combined structures, which not only have more uniform wear but also are easy to replace. Frontier research uses discrete element method (DEM) simulation to optimize their surface angles, which can control the material impact angle error within an extremely small range, significantly enhancing the single impact energy and crushing efficiency.
Which material to choose depends on the specific impact energy and working conditions of the equipment.

High manganese steel (such as ZGMn13): Known for its high toughness. Its initial hardness is not high, but after being subjected to intense impact during use, the surface will undergo "work hardening", resulting in a significant increase in hardness, while still maintaining good toughness internally to resist impact. It is suitable for working conditions with high impact force and high stress. Modified high manganese steel (such as Mn13Cr2) enhances hardness and wear resistance by adding elements like chromium.
High-chromium cast iron (such as Cr26): It has the core advantages of high hardness and high wear resistance. Its structure contains a large amount of high-hardness carbides. The factory hardness can reach above HRC58, and its wear resistance is usually more than twice that of high-manganese steel. However, its toughness is relatively poor, and it is more suitable for working conditions where abrasive wear is the main factor and the impact force is moderate.
In simple terms: For heavy impact and high stress, choose high manganese steel; for strong wear and moderate impact, choose high chromium cast iron. For extreme working conditions, specialized enterprises such as Zhangjiakou Hongapple Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. can also provide dual-metal composite technology, combining the wear-resistant surface of high chromium cast iron with the ductile core of alloy steel to achieve a perfect unity of anti-wear and anti-shock.

Company Information
Kunshan Zhiyi Dingli Cemented Carbide Tool Co., Ltd. manufactures high-performance carbide impact blocks (anvils) for vertical shaft impact (VSI) crushers and sand-making machines. Our impact blocks are fabricated from premium impact-resistant carbide grades using advanced sintering technology, providing outstanding resistance to high-velocity particle impact, abrasion, and erosion in demanding quarrying, mining, and aggregate processing environments where traditional steel parts fail rapidly.
Our factory manufactures carbide impact blocks in over 80 standard profiles for all major VSI crusher models. Using proprietary sintering and heat treatment processes, we achieve optimal combinations of hardness (HRA 88–92) and fracture toughness (K_IC 12–18 MPa·m¹/²) for maximum resistance to both abrasion and impact shock. Monthly capacity exceeds 10,000 pieces, with exports to Australia, Chile, South Africa, and throughout Asia.
